the pipe dream

Last night a I had a dream.

I was at work. There were a whole bunch of people there I didn't know, but I knew them in the dream.

They were rowdy. They were loud. Things were falling off the walls.

I had so much to do but I couldn't do any of it.

I was angry. I was yelling. I was having trouble breathing.

I woke up aggrivated. (With a headache.)

I have this thought in the back of my head.

I would like to have my own little cafe.

A place where people could come and get a warm beverage. A freshly baked cookie. A yummy veggie-friendly sandwich. Maybe some soup. (I love soup.)

A place where people could sit and sip and read and eat and talk and relax and breathe.

A place that is calm and warm and cozy and quiet and comfortable.

I love places like that.

(I spend a lot of time in places like that.)

I have not one clue about owning a cafe or running a cafe.

I don't really have money to buy a chai, let alone buy a place that would sell a chai.

(Maybe what I'd really like is for someone else to own a cafe and hire me to care for it.)

But I do know that it would fill me to get up in the morning and bake for people, cook for people, brew for people.

That would be nice, I think.

But that's a dream for another day.

It sounds like a great dream! (The pipe dream, not your actual asleep-dreaming-dream.)

Can your cafe have a fireplace for the winter and a porch for the summer? That would be great, thanks.

Oh and a shelf where people can leave books for other people to take and read.

I think you should do it. :) Maybe you could work part-time in a small cafe for a little while, just to observe and learn? I love the idea. I worked in a B&B for a long time in college and I really truly did love it. I loved chatting with the guests, I loved looking at the Victorian/Alice-in-Wonderland themed decor, I loved baking for the guests breakfast in the morning and wine & hors d'oeuvres in the evening.
I hold on to this little dream of buying up a nice piece of real estate (sometime around when I turn 50 or so) and converting it into a B&B - kind of a second career, for retirement income.

But anyway, a cafe. I think you could totally do it and I think you'd be great at it! (But then, you know me. I couldn't possibly say anything other than: You have a dream? Dude, go for it. What else is this life for?)

And that part-time income could help you save up capital to one day start your cafe!

Ok. I'll stop now. :)
