Post Big Race

So, there were a lot of really wonderful things about Big Race weekend.......

My new shirt:

I'd been waiting to wear this... The front said "I bet she's tougher than that":

Anticipation on the starting line:

The spoils of victory. Or at least finishing:

The day was great. Good weather. I felt okay running. Took it easy. Saw the sights; like the cloggers doing their thing to "Rock Your Body" by the Backstreet Boys. (How often do you get to see that?) and something like 25 hot air balloons taking to the skies for the race. Kissed the bricks (for real... like on my hands and knees).

And now my knee is making me pay.

I'm staring out the window at the sunshine and wishing I was out in it doing something. Biking. Hiking. Walking. Anything. That was our plan for the day. But instead Hubby's doing everything under the sun around the house and going grocery shopping and probably making the bulk of dinner and not being able to do anything that he had planned for the day. And I'm sitting like a slug. I am not a slug sitter by nature. But I'll do the best I can with that, and be SO SO SO GRATEFUL to Hubby for all that he's doing to help me be the slug trying to get the swelling down and the usage up. (I hear him changing laundry now. God bless him.)

To quote my goddaughter: It's all right. We'll find it.

Really, I'm grateful. Because in the grand scheme of things, it's not that bad. Which doesn't mean I'm not upset and crying. But I do know it could be a lot worse. And, hopefully, it will be better soon. For now, I'm going to apply more ice.

I almost bought you that t shirt. Glad I didn't. Hubby was here to get the knee braces and crutches. I think maybe this is your little bodies way of saying "we don't like running anymore". As much as it will hurt you mentally, I think you need to focus on hiking, biking and walking. You may find that you can love them just as much as running. You have punished your joints for a very long time. I'd like you to have a strong body to take you through the next 50 or so years. Of course, that's just your mothers opinion. Love you!

Great shirts! I hope it doesn't take too long for the knee to feel better. It sounds really mad at you. But, at least you got to enjoy a great day first.

My hubby could use a lesson from your hubby :) However, he (my hubby) is incredibly helpful with the girls. So I'll take it!

I'm glad you had a great weekend. And I'm really glad you're taking it easy and letting your knee get better. Continue to do so and feel better. Love you!

I am a blogging friend of your wonderful, wonderful mom, and she told me of your (AGAIN!) incredible run. I actually cried at your words... both for your great talent and determination and also for your courage and yes, humor!! My daughter Jane ran her first marathon on Sunday (Cox Providence) and I have seen and felt each step. I have the greatest, greatest respect and awe for distance runners... it was always on my Bucket List to run a marathon. I might yet with people like you and my daughter out there with your lessons of living purposely and willingly with great tenacity! I hope your healing is as quick as your feet and your wit!! And wow, your husband is an angel!

And, too... if you ever do Boston again, we are an hour south! Come visit! Heck, come stay! My daughter qualified for next year's Boston with a 3 hour, 37.10 time. Maybe we'll see you AND your mom!!!!
